All registrations for the 2016-2017 season are done via the Speed Skating Canada Member Management System (MMS). Returning members should have received an email with detailed online registration information. New members should contact the club registrar ( before using the MMS system.

Skate fitting night for 2016-2017 is Tuesday September 6th, 5:00-7:00pm at the Capital News Centre. Registrants are strongly encouraged to complete their online registration prior to attending. A small number of computers will be available on-site. Please bring payment (cash or cheque), tight-fitting socks (for skate sizing) and the registrant’s care card to complete the KSSC Medical Form.

Program fees cover participation and insurance for all on and off-ice sessions. All skaters and guardians must be registered with BC Speed Skating Association and Speed Skating Canada (included in membership fees below). Program fees may be paid in installments via cheque (payable to the Kelowna Speed Skating Club) or cash.

    • Mondays 5:45-6:30, January-March: $TBC
    • Wednesdays 6:00-6:45, January-March: $TBC
  • Group 2 (choose one of the options below)
    • Mondays 6:45-7:45 AND Wednesdays 5:00-6:00, September- March: $TBC
    • Mondays 6:45-7:45, September-March: $TBC
    • Wednesdays 5:00-6:00, September-March: $TBC
  • Group 3 (one option only)
    • Mondays AND Wednesdays AND Thursdays, September-March: $TBC
      • Mondays 4:30-5:45
      • Wednesdays 6:00-6:30 off-ice and 6:45-8:00 on-ice
      • Thursdays 4:45-6:00
  • Special Program: Try It [Fall 2016]
    • September 19th, 21st, 26th, 28th: $80*
      *Fee can be applied towards a regular program if skater subsequently joins the club
  • Special Program: Adult Learn to Speed Skate [Fall 2016]
    • Mondays 5:45-6:30, September 26th-November 14th (6 sessions): $120

Skate Rental Fees

  • When applicable, skate rental fees must be paid with the first payment installment
  • Skate rental fees are INCLUDED in all Special Programs
  • Skate rental fees are INCLUDED in Group 1 and Group 2 for minor (youth) skaters
  • Adults in Group 1/2 and all Group 3 skaters must provide their own skates or rent skates from KSSC for $TBC for the season


  • There are no refunds on BC Speed Skating/Speed Skating Canada membership fees
  • A $25.00 fee will be charged for program cancellations
  • A $25.00 fee will apply to all NSF cheques
  • Medical refunds will only be granted if a skater misses at least 9 consecutive skating days. Skaters must submit a letter to the Board of Directors including a physician’s note. Refunds, if granted, apply only to program fees and will be prorated from the first date skating was missed.

Other Fees

  • Competitions (meets) throughout the season are an additional registration fee
  • Skaters are responsible for providing the following mandatory safety equipment*:
    • CSA approved speed skating, ski or hockey helmet
    • Cut resistant gloves or mitts
    • Knee pads
    • Neck guard (bib style)
    • Hard plastic shin guards (i.e. soccer)

* Note, skaters participating in sanctioned competitive events must have additional cut resistant protection. For more information on equipment for all levels, please see the About Speed Skating page.
